I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH
by Mark Detzler
One of Jesus' most important affirmations is found in Matthew 16, where
he promises to build his church and to give the keys to those who
serve and follow him. In this passage we see one aspect of God's
plan for his church.
One of the main goals of evangelism is the extension and growth of
local fellowships. There is no greater joy than speaking with someone
who knows nothing of God's grace, and seeing that person become a
follower of Jesus himself.
I remember the very first time I witnessed to someone on the street.
I was afraid of being ignored or humiliated. But as I began the conversation,
I felt an intense joy and peace that, in a very real way, has set
the course for my life.
Our church in Rome is committed to witnessing, but also to creating
moments of worship where outsiders can experience the living presence
of our Lord and Saviour.
