TOGETHER!
by Frédéric Balayn
During 1997, we have continued to support the evangelistic work of
several small churches in the area. What a privilege to be able to
reach people - many of whom would not be prepared to cross the threshold
of a church - in the streets!
Festival Outreach, which brought together a team from Europe and indeed
the whole world, enabled thousands of people to hear the message of
salvation in Jesus Christ proclaimed. Several expressed a desire to
accept the Lord, while others made recommitments.
1997 also saw the beginning of training courses in our centre at Lauris.
We are still 'testing the water', but the building itself is at last
being used for the purpose for which we acquired it.
The biggest change in 1998 is the arrival of a French missionary to
start a work in and around Paris. Gilles Vann, who has just completed
a MA in theology, and who has been doing open-air evangelism for some
time, seems well qualified for the task. He is at present actively
seeking support, as MEPA's own resources are currently insufficient
to finance him on a long-term basis.
As we work to raise support from within France, we realise the blessing
that Christians in other countries have been to us. Your faithfulness
encourages us to continue proclaiming the gospel in our land; it is
a sign of the love of Christ which transcends national borders. He
who has begun a good work in each of us will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus (Phil 1:6).
